Job Summary:
Paint Helper assists a lead painter by performing prep work and cleanup needed to complete refinish repair work on cars, trucks and other motor vehicles, with a focus on quality, timeliness and safety.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning of refinish work needed according to repair specifications
- Tape, sand and prep
- Mixes and matches paint according to manufacturer specifications
- Utilizing polishing and buffing tools and materials, smooth the surfaces of the products to be painted
- Sanding, masking, unmasking, finish painting, seal and touch up. Must be familiar with paint equipment and must be able to adjust equipment to obtain the desired spray patterns
- Comply with all TCC’s safety standards, quality repair guidelines and procedures
- Perform other related duties as assigned relating to, but not limited to washing cars, cleaning the shop, etc.
Requirements:
- Excellent focus on detail
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of how to operate and maintain a paint booth
- Must comply with all safety requirements, respirator safety and fit test
- Proficient with paint equipment
- Ability to read service and repair manuals
- Ability to perform quality refinish work in a timely fashion
- Ability to read and interpret repair orders
- Must be 18 years or older
Education and Experience:
- I-CAR certified preferred
- Three years of related experience
Pysical Requirements:
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. regularly.
- Must be able to inspect the vehicle to determine repairs needed.
- Good vision to inspect repair work.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
- Must be able to reach below and above shoulder level.
